UCLA Thanks You

Last fall’s return to campus was so special after more than a year away from in-person learning, socializing and face-to-face connections at UCLA. It was a challenging time and I am incredibly proud of all the work our teams in Administration did to prepare for this successful return. These efforts have not gone unnoticed and their value is further extended as we continue to mitigate pandemic related issues this winter.

From helping to get self-administered COVID-19 tests into more than a dozen conveniently located vending machines and distribution centers across campus, reviewing resumption plans, establishing a new wastewater testing program into our residential community on ‘the Hill,’ and implementing processes that allowed students in our K-12 program to also return to in-person learning, among other things, your efforts have made a substantial difference.

Beyond projects connected to the pandemic, our teams also created new outdoor study spaces, upgraded campus safety infrastructure, changed the way we ticket for events, enhanced UCLA’s information security systems, developed a comprehensive sustainability plan, created new transportation services, along with myriad other enhancements that allowed Bruins to return to an even better campus.

You also kept our buildings and grounds in excellent shape, provided clean and secure places for our students to live, dine and study, and provided world-class hospitality to the campus community and visitors alike.

But that isn’t all. Outside organizations also applauded you for various projects completed in recent months. Among them: the National Recycling Coalition, the California Public Parking Association and the Association for College and University Housing OfficersInternational, which all took note of our talented teams and your contributions.

As we embark on a new year filled with new challenges and opportunities, we reflect on some of these accomplishments and look ahead to another year of rising to the challenge and raising the bar to delivering excellence. I am so proud to have each and every one of you as part of our UCLA Administration family and am excited to see what you have in store for us this year.

Wishing you an incredible 2022!
