Bio

Karla has a Ph.D. in Education at UCLA, an M.A. from the University of California, San Diego, and a B.A. from Pomona College, both in Latin American Studies. Before coming to UCLA as a graduate student, she taught K-12 in public schools, parochial schools, and now independent schools. In addition, she currently teaches graduate-level classes at Cal State Dominguez Hills in their Dual Language Immersion Program. She has also taught at UCLA in the Teacher Education Program (TEP), at UCSD’s Linguistics Department, and at East LA Community Corporation (ELACC) in their Chicanx Studies Department.
