Events Office helps honor Class of 2021

After a year where commencement activities were entirely virtual, the Events Office was excited to help honor the Class of 2021 with in-person celebrations. Graduates took part in an ongoing procession at Drake Stadium that was organized by the UCLA College, Student Affairs and other campus units. It culminated with an individual name recognition and stage cross moment, which was particularly meaningful for the students. Sixteen individual ceremonies for schools and student groups were also held at the Los Angeles Tennis Center with a separate guest viewing area at Annenberg Stadium.

UCLA welcomed approximately 10,000 registered graduates back to campus and more than 20,000 guests over six days of processionals. Invitations were sent to a list provided by the Registrar’s Office of all eligible 2021 graduates, who registered through a customized system built by the Central Ticket Office (See story titled “Central Ticket Office helps Class of 2021 celebrate” for details). For friends and family who couldn’t be there in person, the Drake Stadium processionals were livestreamed on the commencement website and the UCLA YouTube channel.

In addition to the June celebrations, the university is bringing the Class of 2020 back for a number of in-person graduation ceremonies this fall.
