Technology Training Program

Frontline employees in Administration are being offered technology classes to expand their skills and advance their careers here at UCLA.

Employees take advantage of the technology training program, learning valuable new skills.

Current participants have completed classes on typing, Microsoft Word, and resume and interviewing skills. In the upcoming quarter, training classes on Microsoft Outlook and Excel will be offered.

Bruin Bus Transit Operator Maria Iraheta said that because of these courses, she now knows how to use a computer, and access her email.

“Before this program I needed to rely on my coworkers for their support to get my emails and access UCPath. After taking this course, I was able to enroll in the new Bruin E-Permit program for my parking, and I didn’t need any help!”

Maria even went out and purchased a laptop for her use at home.

Fleet Automotive Technician Jaime LuJan has said that now that he’s taken these courses, he’s learned how to use a computer and feels much more comfortable using the internet.

“The typing class has also helped me a great deal. Before this class, I would do a two-finger hunt-and-peck to type. Now I’m able to type better, which has really come in handy with our work order processes and cataloging the complaints, causes, and corrections to University vehicles.”
