H&H Flu Clinics Bring Shots to Hundreds of Team Members

What better way to give Housing & Hospitality’s frontline workers access to free and convenient flu shots than brining the clinics to them? That was the idea behind the department’s first-ever mobile flu shot clinic, which was held November 6. Traditionally it is difficult for the Hill’s dining and housekeeping teams to attend a flu shot clinic due to time and location, but the mobile clinic saw great numbers of these team members rolling up their sleeves and getting the job, said organizer Haley Binder, housing safety manager.

Over a three-hour period, this traveling clinic was set up in 50-minute increments in the Northwest Campus Auditorium, at the De Neve turnaround and in front of Feast at Rieber.

This mobile clinic set-up followed two other standard flu shot clinics that were offered in October. Collectively, these events welcomed roughly 300 H&H team members.

In addition, the Lake Arrowhead Lodge held a flu clinic for its team members on Nov. 12.

This effort was all part of H&H’s commitment to keeping its team members safe during flu season and offering a convenient way for them to comply with the UC systemwide flu vaccination mandate, which stated that all students, faculty, other academic appointees and staff learning, living or working at UC locations must receive a flu vaccination or opt out using a form supplied by their location after receiving information about flu vaccine by Friday, Nov. 19.
